Vancouver’s Swap-o-Rama-Rama & Maker Faire

17 Jun

For any Vancourites that read my blog I thought that I would let you know about a couple cool events coming up in June that I would very much love to attend, but unfortunately can’t.

Swap-o-Rama-Rama: a massive clothing exchange complete with a DIY altering station (hosted by Spool of Thread and Blim) that encourages reuse and creativity in your daily wardrobe.

Saturday, June 18th from 11am – 4pm at the Museum of Vancouver (1100 Chestnut Street Vancouver, BC). The cost is $6 at the door plus a bag of clothes (and you can leave with all the clothes you can carry!)

Check out their facebook event and tumblr for more information and pictures.

Vancouver Mini Maker Faire: a two-day celebration of making and creating. Maker Faire was started a couple of years ago in San Francisco by the folks behind Make and Craft magazines, so you know that it’s going to be a fabulous event! Makers demo their hacks, robots and other nifty creations and crafters show off their beautiful works and put on tutorials to share their DIY skills. Sounds pretty amazing to me!

Vancouver’s Maker Faire is taking place June 25-26 at 555 Great Northern Way. Tickets are $20 at the door.

Check out their facebook event and website for more information on workshops, live performances, speakers, pyrotechnics, robotics, booths, food vendors, and of course our favourite Vancouver crafters!
