YAY it’s May! This month I decided to do something different a showcase some beautiful desktop wallpapers (that are not necessarily calendars). These wallpapers are fresh, minimalist, and perfect for spring. Happy May! Bring on the sunshine, flowers, and double digits. I can’t wait!
April 2013 Desktop Calendars
2 AprWell it’s April and there is still snow and ice on the ground in Saskatchewan. As I said last month, hopefully warmer weather is just around the corner. My not-so-secret wish is the snow will disappear by my birthday! Until then I will console myself with a grilled cheese sandwich (see bottom of this post).
April is National Grilled Cheese Month and my friends at BS in the Kitchen are posting a new grilled cheese EVERY DAY. This is quite an (indulgent and impressive) accomplishment. My favouite grilled cheese to date: Wine & Cheese Grilled Cheese! AMAZING. A great sandwich to celebrate my birthday later this month, with a side salad to balance the meal, and a glass or three of wine!
Happy April!

1 JanHappy New Year friends!
2012 has been a crazy, fabulous year. I moved from Vancouver to Saskatoon. I started a new job in a new industry. I sadly said goodbye to my wonderful Vancouver besties. Fortunately I met some amazing girls in Saskatoon who made this transition much easier. 2012 has been a rollercoaster year of change.
Thank you to all my friends and family for their support in 2012. I feel like I am where I should be.

Merry + Bright Christmas Cards
24 DecMerry Christmas! I cannot believe it is Christmas Eve; where did the time go this December?! I am incredibly behind on my Christmas cards and Christmas blogging! I apologize a thousand times.
I love sending snail mail. A hand written card with a thoughtful compliment is one of my most favourite things to receive.
Last year I made embroidered and printed cards for family and friends. This year I kept things simple and made one lovely linocut stamp “Merry + Bright”.
May your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white!
Warmest wishes for the happiest of holidays from Saskatchewan.
XO
p.s. – I am sorry if you are viewing your Christmas card online before you receive it in the mail!

Favourite Felt Wreath
25 NovIn 2010 I found a tutorial for an amazing felt holiday wreath on design*sponge. I loved the simple, organic elegance of this wreath. I just had to make it!
My wreath was beautiful; it looked exactly like Kristen’s wreath (which is always satisfying when following an online tutorial). I was so pleased with this DIY project. Unfortunately this wreath was very fragile and I knew it wouldn’t travel well when I moved to Saskatoon. I gave my felt rosette wreath to my dear friend Jocelyn. I hope she enjoys it this holiday season!
Now I am settled into my new apartment, Henry, I decided to make a new wreath in fabulous, holiday red.
I wanted this festive, felt decoration to be durable. Instead of using push pins to attach the felt rosettes to the styrofoam form, as suggested in the original tutorial, I sewed them onto a handmade wreath form made out of felt and cardboard. It was incredibly time consuming. This wreath took me twelve hours to complete! But I do love it and know I will appreciate it for years to come. It is so lovely and classic!

Shop Local! Handmade Markets.
12 NovI love holiday craft fairs. I’m disappointed to miss Vancouver’s amazing Got Craft and Make It events this year. I’m hoping Saskatoon’s Flock & Gather Winter Wonders Handmade Market and Artisan Fine Craft Market can help fill this void in my DIY, local shopping, holiday heart.
I am really loving Flock & Gather’s Winter Wonders poster! How charming is this mustached reindeer?!
Flock & Gather Winter Wonders Handmade Market.

2012 Artisan Fine Craft Market
November 23, 24 & 25
TCU Place, Saskatoon
Admission: $5.00
To readers nearby and readers far away, I encourage you to shop local this holiday season! Over the past five years my parents’ favourite Christmas presents were handmade, purchased at a local shop, or bought at a holiday market. Holiday craft fairs are the perfect opportunity to shop for one of a kind goods in a casual environment where you will have the opportunity to meet the makers in person, talk about their handmade goods, and learn about their creative processes.
Doesn’t it feel amazing to support artisans and crafters like Mabel Pike!?
Happy shopping!
